Departments

Production and Logistics

The Production and Logistics Department cooperates with various national and international associations and organizations in order to optimize production methods and supply chains.

National and International Networking

Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V. (BVL) / German Logistics Association

Together with the BVL, the VDA Logistics Department organizes the Forum Automotive Logistics (FAL) each year. At this conference, more than 500 experts from the automotive, logistics,  packaging, and information-technology industry meet to find out about current and future developments in the field of logistics.

Deutscher Speditions- und Logistikverband e.V. (DSLV) / German Freight Forwarding and Logistics Association

One key aspect of the work of the committees of the Logistics Department is the development of best-practice recommendations for the design of delivery processes. In these processes, logistics service providers play an essential role. Together with the DSLV, recommendations are developed mainly for communication with transport services providers by EDI. The goal is to harmonize material and information flow optimally and establish communication standards as far as possible.

Forum Electronic Invoicing in Germany (FeRD)

The forum was founded under the umbrella of AWV - Arbeitsgemeinschaft für wirtschaftliche Verwaltung e.V., sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) by resolution of the German Bundestag.

It sees itself as an independent mediator at the interface of ministries, associations, and companies.

Electronic accounting procedures have been well established in the automotive supply chain for decades. Through active participation in the FeRD, the VDA supports the further spread of electronic invoices and works to ensure that the interests of its members are adequately taken into account in the development of a national standard.

Odette International

Odette International is the European umbrella organization of national associations and organizations involved in the development of standards and recommendations for electronic data interchange (EDI) in the automotive industry. The organization is also involved in logistics processes, key figures, and performance evaluations.

The VDA Logistics Department represents the German automotive industry in this network. As an Odette member, the VDA also cooperates actively with the North American Association AIAG and the Japanese automotive associations JAMA / JAPIA.

From this collaboration arose, among other things, recommendations such as the Global EDI messages and the Global MMOG / LE (Logistic performance evaluation)

Together with Odette, the organization code (Odette IDs) and digital certificates are assigned, essential for security in data transmission.
