“Charging infrastructure: A lot helps a lot” – Electric City Rüsselsheim
Electric City Rüsselsheim is a joint project run by Opel with the city of Rüsselsheim, the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, and other partners.
More than 1,000 charging points are being set up in all parts of the city and residential areas, on the Opel site, on the University campus, in residential complexes, in parking lots of selected supermarkets and shopping centers, as well as on the grounds of the municipal hospital.
The locations are the result of preliminary scientific studies as well as demand analyses and simulations. In terms of the number of inhabitants, Electric City will give Rüsselsheim one of the highest densities of charging stations in Europe.
The first milestone of the project was the commissioning of 350 charging points for fleet vehicles on the Opel campus in December 2019.
