Freight forwarders have to settle transport damages amounting to around 1.2 billion euros through their insurance policies every year. Poorly secured freight can not only damage its load through impacts or falling off, but can also cause catastrophic accidents through lost parts on the roadway and through lurching and tipping of a truck-trailer combination. Many truck drivers secure their cargo judging by feel and look. However, if the strap is too tight, it can damage the cargo; if it is too loose, it can start to slip and detach itself. The iGurt app on the smartphone immediately signals when the pre-tensioning force of a strap drops. This enables an immediate reaction to even a slight loss of tension, preventing damage. In the future, the iGurt can also be networked with telematics systems so that load securing can also be tracked and documented remotely.

The iGurt is a handy, intelligent sensor that monitors the tension of the straps while on the road and thus prevents load damage and accidents.
