Against the backdrop of the forthcoming Euro 7 legislation and the subsequent requirements for a spontaneous exhaust gas after-treatment, Tenneco has developed a CSTU (cold start thermal unit) mini burner. This enables a reduction of up to 50% in the "light-off" times for the exhaust after-treatment system to reach the optimum operating temperature in gasoline and diesel engines, which is accompanied by a corresponding reduction in exhaust emissions. The use of the CSTU mini burner can thus make a significant contribution to compliance with the expected limits for passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

With the aid of this technical solution for thermal management, the "light-off" time can be reduced by up to 50%.
